seems like only a rare breed would get a sigil..........but isn't the game suppose to be based on G vs G after you finish story mode...........since its so hard to obtain one that just throws the feature of G vs G away

As far as I've heard on the rumor mill some people are charging 90 plat for each sigil. And if its so difficult to get these sigils how do people like the 770k guy up above get so many? I think its ridiculous that a single guild could get that many and over charge for them. I understand its there right and its supply and demand, but seriously that's just really wrong if a team like that can get 7 in a short time and a PvE group has to bust balls (excuse my french) just to get one so we aren't getting the perverbial shaft when it comes to pricing.

NObody has answered the question of "what do you do in a guild hall?" What exactly DO you do in the guild hall? Is there a large area? Is it like your own private island? Is there anything special to see or do there besides the fact that your guild can all go there? I mean, my guild can all go together to Traveller's Vale, but I don't buy a 60k sigil to get there... yet it's still private since when I go to Traveller's Vale it's all mine, no other players.

Perhaps is it like a private map that can be joined at any time by your guild? Or maybe even a private district?

Why should I encourage and help my guild raise the dough needed to get a sigil / buy a guild hall?

EXTRA NOTE: As for the availability and price of sigils... it's not necessarily related to quanitity. Diamonds are actually a very common stone and not worth nearly a fraction of what we pay for them. But the Debiers monopoly on diamond mines and the industry, as well as a century of advertising and controlling the popular perception of the role of diamonds (family heirlooms, expression of love, engagement, etc.) has made them very valuable indeed. Perhaps the guilds who hold a great number of sigils actually know that an item in demand is more valuable than an item in supply.

On sigils and the high prices of stuff in general, who cares about your own private island? When my guild members all hit level 20 and when we finish the PvE part we'll do some PvP's and if we get a sigil, so be it. Unless they put monsters on those islands that you can go farm for XP and skills, I'd rather be out exploring. Paying over 2K for anything in this game is a waste when you can go get it yourself.

A guild hall is a private instance for your guild. As such, it's the only instance in which an unlimited number of members of your guild can participate while specifically excluding all others. PvE instances have party size limits, and entering an abandoned district of a town or staging area does not ensure absolute privacy. This is in addition to being the only staging area for GvG matches. There are no NPCs on guild halls except for the henchmen. I don't see how the former purpose is especially useful, though, because you always have guild chat. It's marginally more convenient for meeting up and trading with guild members, but not terribly so, and certainly not worth the current market price.

Sigils are actually rarer than other items, simply because the rate at which they enter the economy is very limited. The Hall of Heroes is a unique instance, and only one group can hold it at a time. Even for the rarest other items such as superior vigor runes, the instances in which they load can be run in parallel. This is one of the reasons that sigils prices have been subject to disproportionate inflation – simply put, supply is completely inelastic.

Well think of sigils this way: if you cannot win them from HoH, then your guild may not be ready to GvG. This is from a PvP perspective. For the PvE people, like taion said, a guild hall does not offer anything much other than a meeting place for more than 8 people at a time.

And if you do manage to get a sigil from HoH, and got it using a PvP char, don't forget to put it into storage or your RP char ASAP. We had a member destroy a sigil because he needed to tweak his PvP char build and forgot that the sigil is still in his inventory. Lol.

It's a whole island for your guild, no traders or anything YET, but great hope to get one at some point.

I'd like to see a trader in every guild and more importantly a training arena.

Right now it's good for practicing positioning and such, a perfect meeting place to talk about skills and tactics.

My favorite is the Lava one at the end. I like the tropical island that's first almost as well.

The ice one is cool, but makes me feel cold.

The problem you have with giving a small group of players that much control over something that valuable is obvious. Go to e-bay and do a search or two and you'll understand. I don't believe the design team intended a small group of players (no matter how good they are) to fleece the entire rest of the community as is happening now.

Oh I see. So that means unless you can beat guilds like War Machine, Negative Zero, Postive Zero and others on the top 10 guild ranking you don't deserve to participate in guild vs guild action? Maybe then they should change the name of this game to TOP 10 GUILD WARS because certainly those of us who aren't good enough to beat those in the top 10 who tend to hold the hall most often aren't good enough to enjoy the entire game.

Personally I feel that Sigils should not be available for resale. It should remain a sign of accomplishment and only drops once upon your victory in the Hall of Heroes: 60k gps is just absurd and guilds should not be able to purchase their status, regardless of the cost. Fight for it and Earn it!
I strongly agree with this ... buying your way into it proves nothing ... you should have to earn it in order to GvG. I know that people say well its the same groups winning everyday, guess what ... thats because they log on and start battling for it. They didn't jump in there 1-10 times and give up ... they fought battled and earned there respect to own a hall.

However to contradict 1 opinion of mine (says as he smirks) ... go ahead and buy your sigil noobs ... take a quick easy road and you'll likely take a quick easy death. People that earn it realize stregnths and weaknesses of PvPing and experience ... you cannot buy.

Cheers and see you all in the hall

EDIT ----
to follow up, I would like to address the comment above mine ... point taken considerably. I understand that it will likely be difficult to beat many top 10 teams comprised of alphas and beta players. This is why you can buy them in the first place ... however I believe they should take the trading ability off of them sigils ... and not allow them to buy a sigil until Dragons Lair (tombs) ... so they will have to ascend prior to purchasing a sigil off of the NPC.

In reality there are likely a few million people playing this game across AMERICA, KOREA, and EUROPE .. so it will not ever be *only HoH* ...

so..
first of all.. where does GvG actually take place??
Sorry for all my redundant questions. I am sure this has been asked many times but the search for Guild Hall, etc gives me way too much results.
I have played this game since beta yet only play on weekends and such.
In a Guild Hall, do you get a button like "enter mission?" <-- gvg?

and where exactly is Halls of Heroes? and which one gets you ranked?
i have 13 members all waiting for some PvP action yet their unworthy leader has been stuck with finals all month @.@.
thanks in advance!

Heya...since this topic is near the top I had a quick question. I have a guild right now (2 members me and my wife), and I am thinking about getting a guild hall for future events. I am saving my pp (20kp right now) to get a sigil, but I have never seen someone offering one to sell. I am guessing that there is a place to go to buy them, but which city does that usually occur in? Which district?

I understand that my guild of 2 doesn't need a guild hall, but I may start inviting people at some point when I get a full grasp of the game (only 2 missions left), and I am able to discern a good player from one that doesn't understand what LURE BACK means...anyhow thanks in advanace.

I really think they should give you a training ground in your Guild Hall so you can practice against eachother, or NPC's.

Right now it seems like a huge waste of gold, all you get out of it that is actually useful is the ability to do GvG.

Whoopy your own private place to meet and chat. Errr, just meet. Hey, who ever actually cares if they see the person they are chatting to in guild chat anyways? Oh that's right, those wankers who are lovey dovey with eachother. Usually 2 males, 1 playing a female toon. lol

WOW I never really thought of our guilds desire to make a group sacrifice as noobish thing. My guild is a group of mostly older folks that have played Diablo, Diablo 2, Shadowbane together for several years. We made a group decision to become tied up with guild wars. A couple of weeks ago, after we had had time to play around with the game some, the 20 or so of us looked at the economy, had a talk, and decided that we would like a guild hall to call our very own. We are all PvE at this point. I think only a couple of us have even reached level 20, and to my knowledge only 1 member has accended. Never-the-less, a couple of us daily work on our quests and missions saving our pennies and sharing stuff. Today I gave away 3 minor and 1 major rune to guild mates that my monk did not have use for. I would rather give the stuff to guildmates than to sell it, that is just my way. We all help each other as much as possible and save our pennies for our goal. We have been offered free Sigils from allied guilds (whom we have also played with for years) but we chose to earn it ourselves. I wont buy from another character, I will buy only from the sigil trader on the islands. Anyway it has been 2 weeks, we have collected 50 platinum and now that we are all higher levels, the drops have become far more lucrative. We are earning the hall. I imagine that we will have that sigil by the end of next week. The hall itself may take longer as our current vote tally is in a 6 way tie. I like the idea of a guild hall and the hope that it will become a more important part of the game with upgrades and expansions.

I'm evil I guess. I think Guild Halls SHOULD only be available to those who have won SOMETHING with their Guild. I think the Sigils should be non tradeable and have no value.

No I don't have a Guild or a Guild Hall, but I think making the sigils available to any idiot who sells a Superior Vigor rune is wrong. Look at the title of the game for christ's sake. I think there SHOULD be something that's exclusive to Guilds and Guilds only, and Guilds who have deserved it. The hall's aren't that wonderful for starters, so if there are any people out there thinking "I don't have the time to win HoH", then how do you have the time to save the money for a sigil or even FIGHT in your Guild Hall.

Wanting aside, I think something needs to be exclusive to Guilds to promote the drive to make better Guilds. Whether it's Guild Halls or not. Guild Halls could become much better too. Have their own hall of fame room that people could take a tour around. Have plaques on the walls that people could read of the Guilds they have beaten and the players in the teams that beat them. That would be so cool.

The 50 plat our guild has collected so far has come from killing alot of monsters. Your suggestion would disable a PvE guild from ever having a guild hall. The importance of a guild hall is what you make of it. And what the heck should anyone care if some young yahoo decides to sell a couple of major runes and buy a guild hall. He paid the same $50 for the game as me. His possession of a guild hall in no way diminishes the guild hall my guildmates and I have struggled for. I am comfortable enough with myself to admit that.

Totally, saving up is hard work. Like I said, I think Guilds (like your Guild) should have access to something unique that normal people who don't put the dedication into a Guild can aquire. Whether it's a Guild Hall or not.

There's no easy answer, because you can't judge a Guild's worthyness and then say "Right.. you guys have one and you guys have one.. but no, not you guys".
Maybe if winning at the Hall of Hero's didnt give you a Guild Hall but something EXTRA (like the hall of fame add on I suggested), then leave other PvE guilds to aquire their Guild another way.. that would work, no?

I just feel bad for the Guilds who slave away and fight hard to get their Guild Halls when it's made worthless by single person Guilds purchasing one. I just feel like someone stole their thunder.
For instance, say someone goes "YAY!!! We won HoH today and got our Guild Hall!!!" I bet some people reply "Well I've got 10 plat.. I can get as many as I want".

Forgive me if I think that is wrong.

Needs to be a way for the people who play less or can't do HoH for whatever reason, to purchase a Hall without the use of money. A team challenge or something, so at least you have to show SOME sort of what a Guild actually means.

Oh, and my suggestion wasn't to make Guild Halls only accesable to HoH winners. It was to find a different way to aquire one.

While I agree with you 100% Eyahl, it is too late to go back now, 10 complain about it now, 50 complain about not being able to buy it tomorrow.

Although, my guild has the money for it, but we want to earn it, how are we going to GvG if we don't know how to even PvP?

And if that is you in the avay, you have pretty eyes =)

I saw someone trying to sell a sigil in Amnoon Oasis last night for 75k. No takers, he'd dropped to 70k by the time I left. I guess they are out there if you happen to be a very rich farmer with 70k, which I'm not
